Recently a televangelist was requesting his followers to help with the $54 million dollars for the purchase of a new private jet. To justify this request it was stated that “If Jesus Christ was physically on this earth today, he wouldn’t be riding a donkey,”
Would Jesus be riding in a private jet as is being implied? Let us examine this.
Jesus did indeed ride “a colt the foal of an ass…” (Matthew 21:5) before his crucifixion. “And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, ‘This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee’” (Matthew 21:9-11).
Now, after his crucifixion, death and resurrection, Jesus entered into his glory (Luke 24:1-27).
“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a [QUICKENING SPIRIT]. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven” (1 Corinthians 15:45-47).
Therefore, if Jesus was here on earth today, to imply that he would be riding in a private jet and “…he wouldn’t be riding a donkey,” shows lack of wisdom and understanding of the Holy Scriptures.
Jesus, “the Lord of Glory” (1 Corinthians 2:8): a QUICKENING SPIRIT wouldn’t need a private jet to travel any where in this heaven and earth: he would just go anywhere in an instant (Luke 24:37–39) (John 20:19).
Prior to his crucifixion and death Jesus explained to his disciples when he foretold of his coming and glory saying: “For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luke 17:24-25).
“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:27).
